Lidl France acquires PCI DSS certification with the P2PE solution by Ingenico

Ingenico Group (Euronext: FR0000125346-ING), the global leader in seamless payment, today announced that Lidl France is one of the very first brands in France to acquire the PCI DSS certification for its payment acceptance system, using Ingenico’s point-to-point encryption (P2PE) solution.

Lidl uses Ingenico payment terminals with the Axis centralized electronic payment solution to process the over 200 million transactions conducted every year in its 1,500 stores across France. Lidl was looking for a system complying with the requirements of PCI DSS certification, meeting the highest standards in credit card data protection. By deploying Ingenico’s point-to-point encryption (P2PE) solution at end-2016, Lidl was able to simplify the compliance procedure, and take a shorter path to certification.

As it limits the movement of sensitive data on the merchant’s payment system, this P2PE solution excludes the checkout system from the certification scope, thereby significantly reducing the investment necessary to obtain PCI DSS certification. In addition, an asset tracking module provides Lidl with real-time information on its payment terminals along with details of the software and certificates installed on each device as well as a movement log. This information was required during the certification audit. All these aspects simplified the certification process for Lidl.

By implementing heightened security barriers, merchants reduce the risk of attacks against their payment system and the loss of sensitive data and therefore protect their brand image. It is also contributing to the virtuous circle of fraud prevention, initiated by card issuers and acquirers in order to increase consumer confidence in electronic payment solutions.

LIDL France is one of the first brands in France to obtain PCI DSS certification.

By deploying this system across Lidl’s 1,500 stores in France, Ingenico has shown its ability to provide pan-European leading brands with solutions tailored to their requirements in terms of functionalities as well as the security and volume of transactions. Merchants’ compliance with the highest security standards improves their relations with their acquirers and maximize their protection against sensitive data loss or theft.’ said Guillaume Pascal, Managing Director of Ingenico France.
